christmas gift "The Wooden Bowl" book

I am sure some readers already have a copy of my book "the Wooden Bowl" but if you haven't (or if you want one to give to someone else) post in the comments box below and I'll draw a name from a hat to get a free book. This can go anywhere in the world.

It is a nice coffee table book with lots of photos of old wooden bowls from archaeological sites tracing the history of the craft from the early iron age through Viking times, Medieval, Tudor and up to the last pole lathe bowlturners of the early 20th century.

Here is a fancy bowl from the mazers chapter, these amazing silver gilt rimmed wooden bowls were highly prized in medieval times.

And a rather nice and very rare find from Coppergate York. This bowl was discarded before being finished and still has the centre mark and stub on the base where it was attached to the lathe.

I'll draw a name or post number from a random number selector on 7th December which should give the book plenty of time to reach the winner for Christmas. If you are posting a comment why not also sign up as a follower if you haven't already, it is always nice for me to know who is reading the blog.

If you don't win the free book you can buy them here http://www.robin-wood.co.uk/book.htm

Hey Robin! I can't get enough reading about knots, wood, trees, joints etc, and my bowl lathe is STILL acting as a very inefficient shelf next to the spindle lathe. Perhaps your book would give me the kick to get going (once I've been to see Paul for some replacement hooks and half a day's hints and tips). Keep up the blog, I watch out for posts every day using Netvibes I monitor about 12 blogs, better than reading the depressing newspapers! See you in Feb.

Dear Mr. Wood,

I'd love to be put in the drawing for a copy of your beautiful book.

I've already ordered one for my husband, but a second copy would make a great gift for the woodworker who inspired him.
